Sakura Financial Group – Higher Food Prices On The Way…

Todays Date: January 18, 2019

Sakura Financial Group: The “collateral damage” from QE2 will inevitably spread to life’s basics.

“Sakura Financial Group” have advised clients to expect higher food and clothing prices in the next few months as the fallout from QE2 manifests itself in higher raw material prices.

Since US Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke’s speech at Jackson Hole in late August, the price of cotton has soared by 68%, sugar by 66% and rice by more than 30% as investors buy them as anti-dollar-debasement hedges.

“Despite official figures which suggest that inflation is subdued in the US and Europe, most of us are acutely aware of the increasing price of the essentials in our supermarkets. There is potential for a great deal of hardship for millions of people if the trend continues”, said a “Sakura Financial Group” spokeswoman.

The firm says that many investors, including its clients, have invested in agriculture/commodity ETFs in order to profit from the inevitable increased demand from the growing middle-classes in emerging economies like India and China but there is also a hardcore of investors who regard these assets as a way of protecting their wealth from the systematic debasement of their paper-based currencies.

“Sakura Financial Group” have been long-term advocates of precious metals like gold and silver for providing this kind of wealth protection but have espoused the virtues of foodstuffs as a play on increased demand from emerging markets.
