Clean Home, Easy Sale

Todays Date: January 20, 2019

The set-up process is oftentimes a very tedious process when doing certain things, and preparing a home for sale is no exception.

Many homes are simply places where we keep the accumulated treasures of the years. Are you a clutter-bug, a pack-rat? It may not be flattering, but a lot of us are.

We need to take good care of our personal belongings when getting the home ready for sale. Start the preparation process by going through everything you currently have at your home for sale. You will need to segregate the things that you haven’t used in the past quarter, or for the past 6 months. Now that you’ve done this, you’ll need to make a tough decision. Get rid of it. Seem a bit extreme? If you have items that haven’t been used in half a year, chances are you won’t use them ever again. This is because our goal is to showcase the house first and foremost.

There is a common line of thought that home buyers want to see the “personality” of the homes current owners. This is very rarely the case. Most buyers couldn’t care less about the stuff you keep in your house for sale. They want to put their personality into it to see if they could see themselves living there. It will make it very difficult for your potential buyer to do this if all your things are still in there. Make sure everything you don’t need has been taken out first. Don’t leave any cupboard or cabinet full of useless things. To free up more space, you can also remove unneeded furniture. And don’t try cutting corners by putting these unneeded items in the garage. Buyers will go through the garage like any other room in your home. Hire a storage locker if it is really necessary. Aside from that, use this as an opportunity to rid yourself of those things that you never use.

Preparing your old house to be sold is much easier with less clutter in there. That way, the new owners can associate your home with themselves once the sale is closed. You may also benefit from having less items to pack. You will then have all the time you need to make your new residence as perfect as possible, with less equipment, furniture and items to worry about.
