An electric shock worth taking!!

Todays Date: December 11, 2018

You never had to put in efforts to lift a car … thanks to the car jack!

You have to put in efforts to climb the stairs … thanks to the lifts and escalators and now Neverwill you have to put in efforts to flex a muscle again … thanks to the EMS.

EMS
(stands for Electronic Muscle Stimulation) is a revolutionary muscle exercise
concept for use in your own home. It is generally done with the help of a Muscle Stimulators. It is also known as neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) or electromyostimulation and is the elicitation of muscle contraction using electric impulses. The impulses are generated by a device and delivered through electrodes on the skin in direct proximity to the muscles to be stimulated. Such electric devices cause your muscles to contract and relax on their own. The impulses generated by such devices mimic the action
potential coming from the central nervous system and hence cause the muscles to contract.
The electrodes are generally pads that adhere to the skin. Such stimulation is both a form of electrotherapy and of muscle training. It is cited as complementary technique for sporttraining, which means you don’t have to do anything except hook up the electrodes to your
body and turn it on. A series of electrical signals will be sent to your muscles causing them to contract and relax.

EMS is used both as training and a therapeutic tool.

Remember seeing those small pad like things on the abs of the model promoting some
sort of abs exerciser on the teleshopping program. Such devices (which have really picked up these days) work on similar concept. EMS causes adaptation, i.e. training, of muscle fibers. Steroids are not the only way to get those breath taking muscles (which are also life taking to build) Muscle Stimulators to build the same rippling muscles that steroids and hours of work out following it would promised.

In medicine it is used for rehabilitation purposes, for instance in the prevention of disuse muscle atrophy which can occur for example after musculoskeletal injuries, such as damage to bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons. However, this should not be confused with TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator): the use of electric current in pain therapy.

Such devices generally work on the scientific principle that is dependent on the natural characteristic of the skeletal muscle fibers. Different types of fiber can be activated to differing degrees by different types of such devices, and the modifications induced depend on the pattern of stimulator activity.

The best amongst such devicesare portable, lightweight electronic units that have been scientifically designed and a series of
stimulated contraction & relaxation phases. It is always advisable that heart patients and pregnant women do not use such devices without proper medical guidance and observation. One is also suppose to take care that such devices are not attach electrodes to burns, cuts,
wounds or any injury.
